WestWind Energy Announces New Wind Farm in Wilkur, Victoria, Fuelling Clean Energy for 517,000 Homes

WestWind Energy is delighted to announce the proposed development of a wind farm in Wilkur, Victoria. Located in the Buloke Shire and Yarriambiack Shire, approximately 11km southwest of Birchip, it will feature up to 97 wind turbines and is set to power around 517,000 homes.
WestWind Energy, a leading renewable energy company, is delighted to announce the proposed development of a wind farm in Wilkur, Victoria. The newly proposed Wilkur Energy Park project, located in the Buloke Shire and Yarriambiack Shire, approximately 11km southwest of the township of Birchip, will feature approximately 97 modern wind turbines that are set to power approximately 517,000 homes.
The Wilkur Energy Park will play a pivotal role in addressing the urgent need to reduce carbon emissions and combat climate change. By harnessing the power of wind, this renewable energy facility is projected to save 2,862,000 tons of carbon dioxide annually, further contributing to the company’s commitment to environmental stewardship. The clean energy generated by this wind farm will significantly reduce the region’s carbon footprint and provide a sustainable energy source for thousands of households.
WestWind Energy, the project developer, is dedicated to engaging and collaborating with the local community throughout the development process. In August, the project team will be actively engaging with neighbours residing within a 5km radius of the site boundary through door knocking initiatives. This effort aims to ensure that all community members are well-informed about the project, have their questions answered, and provide an opportunity for valuable feedback.
To further foster community involvement, WestWind Energy will be hosting two initial Open Days, on August 3rd from 2pm to 7pm and August 4th from 8am to 12pm. The events will be held at the Birchip Public Hall, where residents and interested individuals can learn more about the wind farm project, its environmental benefits, and the potential long-term positive impacts for the local community. These Open Days will provide a platform for constructive dialogue and serve as an avenue for WestWind Energy to address any concerns or queries from the community.
