WestWind Energy Announces Wind Farm in Queensland’s Maranoa Region

Bottle Tree Energy Park to Provide Clean Energy for over 200,000 Queensland Homes

16 October 2023

WestWind Energy announces proposed wind farm development in the Maranoa Region, Central West Queensland.

WestWind Energy, a leading renewable energy company with a proven track record in Australia, is delighted to announce a proposed wind farm development in Central West Queensland.

The Bottle Tree Energy Park will be located approximately 16km northeast of Roma in the Maranoa region and will feature up to 50 wind turbines with the ability to power more than 200,000 Queensland homes with clean energy.

Once operating, Bottle Tree Energy Park will play a pivotal role in addressing the urgent need to reduce carbon emissions and combat climate change. By harnessing the power of wind, the clean energy generated could save a staggering 900,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide annually.

WestWind Energy is committed to continuing engagement and collaboration with the local community throughout the development phase for the wind farm. The project team has been actively engaging with landholders and neighbours within a 5km radius of the proposed site boundary for the past year.

In addition, two Open Days were held for the community at Roma RSL Memorial Hall in June. At these events, residents and interested individuals had the opportunity to provide feedback and find out more information about the project, its environmental considerations, and the long-term benefits to the local community.

Recognising the importance of community partnerships and shared benefits, WestWind Energy will establish a Community Benefit Fund for Bottle Tree Energy Park. This fund will be developed in consultation with locals and will support initiatives that ensure the commercial benefits from the wind farm are shared with the community.

WestWind is returning to Roma on 5 November to provide more opportunities for the community to discuss the project. Interested individuals or groups are welcome to call (03) 5421 9999 or email info@bottletreeenergypark.com.au to arrange a meeting or informal conversation with a WestWind representative.

Community members are also encouraged to drop by the project information stand at the Roma Showground Market on the morning of Sunday 5 November.

WestWind Energy is excited about Bottle Tree Energy Park’s potential to transform the Maranoa region’s energy landscape. For more information about the project, please visit w-wind.com.au/our-projects.
