Do wind turbines limit aerial firefighting?

Aerial firefighting can occur at wind farms and there have been several examples in Australia (pictured Waubra Wind Farm, Vic – Jan 2017).

During a bushfire, the wind farm’s emergency management plan requires the operator to be in regular contact with relevant authorities.

During design of the wind farm, turbines will have been sited more than the minimum 300 metres apart to ensure firefighting aircraft can operate in the area.
