How long does it take to construct a wind farm?

Construction timelines vary, but most wind farms take around 1 – 3 years to build once construction starts.

The exact timeframe depends on factors such as the size of the project, number of turbines, site conditions, weather and grid connection works.

Early stages include building access roads, foundations and electrical infrastructure, followed by turbine delivery, installation and commissioning.

Before construction begins, projects typically spend several years in planning, environmental assessment and approvals. While construction is a relatively short phase, careful planning helps ensure it is carried out safely, efficiently and with minimal disruption to local communities.
