Will the wind farm restrict where I can build a house?

The setback distances between wind farms and dwellings are important to avoid amenity conflicts.

In Victoria, a planning permit will be required for any proposed dwelling within 1 km of a wind farm.

New dwellings may achieve planning approval within proximity to wind farms where agreement between the landowner, wind farm operator and Council are put in place to the reduced amenity from the wind farm.

We will work with applicants on where best to site the dwelling to minimise impact from noise and shadow flicker.

WestWind is committed to working directly with project neighbours to identify and discuss any planned dwellings within the neighboring areas of our projects in order to ensure the most appropriate siting of dwellings on the land to minimise the impacts of our project and any future dwellings.

Additionally, WestWind will collaborate openly with both Council and relevant neighbours via an agreement so the conditions of the use or development of the land are agreed and understood by all relevant parties.

Please contact us on (03) 5421 9999 or email reception@w-wind.com.au if you would like to know more about the requirements in your area.
